But LinkedIn is going beyond just giving you a platform to deutsche bundespost your qualifications and connect with contacts. LinkedIn has a new service to help people with minimal education find job training.In a blog post, How LinkedIn Is Helping Create Economic Opportunity in Colorado and Phoenix, LinkedIns Vice President of Product Management and Co-Founder, Allen Blue, talks about how LinkedIn is creating an Economic Graph for policymakers spanning the globe. This Economic Graph will include every member of the global workforce and their skills, all open jobs, all employers, and all educational institutions.Lin kedIns Pilot Programs for People with Minimal EducationColorado and Phoenix are two areas in which LinkedIn is working with policymakers. The reason more than 40 percent of workers in Colorado, and nearly 50 percent of workers in Arizona have a high school diploma and some or no college education. Thing is, 44 percent of the more than 468 recruiters and hiring managers surveyed in Colorado and Phoenix report having a hard time finding job candidates with the right skills. Clearly, there is a disconnect between what potential employers want of the job seekers, and the education and training levels of those individuals.Thats why LinkedIn joined Skillful, a Markle Foundation initiative designed to aid workers in Colorado and Phoenix with high school diplomas (and little or no college education) acquire new skills to not only find jobs, but to advance their careers, too. And it doesnt end there. LinkedIn has created Training Finder, a new service that assists job hunters in learning new skills and climbing higher in their careers.Not only does Training Finder show them training programs that are relevant to them in their area, but it also shows them which programs are affiliated with employers, whether theyre accredited or not. It also includes the programs employment rate, cost, and duration, the skills theyll learn, and the jobs theyll be qualified for upon completion of the program, including their potential salaryWill the program expand?Currently, Linkedins new service to find job trainingis being utilized in Phoenix and Colorados job seekers. It looks to be quite successful, since its goal is to marry the needs of employers with the job seekers who are eagerly looking for work, and help bring those potential job candidates up to the level that companies are looking for. But in order for it to all work, Zoe Baird, the Markle Foundations president, said that everyone has to work together.If employers write accurate job descriptions citing the skills that they a re looking for in a prospective job candidate- as opposed to broad terms that dont really state what the position is all about- training establishments can then focus their efforts on what employers are looking for and prep job seekers to become qualified candidates that can meet the demands of the positions offered.Readers, what do you think of LinkedIns latest initiative as a way to find job training?
